2.4.13 Specific setting for Inventor Raster module

nventor Raster module now publishes Inventor models and drawing to a *.jpg, *.png raster image. Graphical display is required for Inventor publications, so full Inventor is required (cannot be published via Vault Inventor Server). Inventor drawing publication can be:

  • Through the full Inventor using the “Screenshot” method

  • Through Vault Inventor Server using the “Convert PDF to bitmap” method, where, first the PDF file is published and then converted to individual pages as raster.

Inventor raster publication setting is as follows:

  • Publication method

    • Models require graphical representation and can only be published using the “Screenshot” method

  • Publication application setting and a document opening

    • Models can only be published using the “Inventor application”

    • Document updates can be set to values:

      • Do not set (the publication will run as the model is saved)

      • Update

      • Postpone update

  • Publication settings:

    • Set the source document in the “Source document” field to “Inventor model”

    • In the field “Name of view” is possible to set which view of the model will be set before publication (only one view is supported)

    • It is also possible to set whether the basic ISO view (or the view that is visible after pressing the F4 key in Inventor) should be used in case the view is not found; if this field is not set and the view is not in the model, then the publication will be performed with the view in which the model will be opened in Inventor (i.e. probably as it was last saved)

    • For assemblies, it is also possible to set in the field “Name of level of detail” whether a predefined level of detail should be used (only one level of detail is supported)

    • If a defined level of detail has not been found, can a behavior be set to use the default level of detail

    • Next, set the raster format:

      • png

      • jpg

    • in case of jpg, compression can be set

    • “Convert to black and white” will convert the resulting image to black and white

The setting for publishing an Inventor drawing to a raster are as follows:

  • Publication method

    • “Screenshot” method – requires full Inventor

    • “Convert PDF to Bitmap” – publishing can be done through full Inventor or Vault Inventor Server

  • Publication application setting and a document opening

    • Publishing applications:

      • “Inventor application”

      • “Vault Inventor Server”

    • Document updates can be set to values:

      • Do not set (the publication will run as the model is saved)

      • Update

      • Postpone update

  • Publication settings:

    • Set the source document in the “Source document” field to “Inventor drawing”

    • Select resolution

    • In the field “ Publishing range” set the scope of publishing the drawing

      • “All sheets”

      • “Current sheet”

      • “Sheet range”

    • Next set the raster format

      • png

      • jpg

    • in case of jpg, compression can be set

    • “Convert to black and white” will convert the resulting image to black and white

    • The “Remove thickness” option removes the line weight of the drawing

Note

Selecting All sheets in the Publish range will create multiple separate image files – each image file then corresponds to one sheet.
